Victoria Cottage is a brick and flint, two-bedroom , dog friendly country cottage in Happisburgh, one of the most popular villages in North Norfolk. A conservation village, Happisburgh boasts a beautiful 15th century church, shop and Post Office, dog friendly pub, beach cafe and the best fresh fish shop in the area! The Cottage was originally part of the Old Victoria Pub, which hails back to the early-1800s. The main part of the old pub is now lived in by the lovely John and Louise, who always do their best to look after their dog and human guests next door but equally leave them in peace. For that reason, the cottage annexe has been set up to give guests maximum privacy.
The Cottage is surrounded by beautiful Norfolk countryside and good dog walks, whilst still offering a very short drive to the beaches at Happisburgh and Cart Gap only one mile away. Due to it being just outside the main village, Victoria Cottage enjoys a rural location. Consequently you can enjoy regular visits from swifts in the summer, returning to historical nesting sites in its tiles. There are brown hares in neighbouring fields, local pheasants, buzzards, heron and rabbits in addition to tawny owls nesting in the neighbouring copse. From October, you can enjoy the magnificent flocks of pink footed geese flying over the cottage, as they spend their winter in Norfolk.
When you arrive
The entrance to the cottage is via a loke (Norfolk track) where you find a private parking area for the cottage adjacent to its own private yard, which is fully enclosed and dog friendly. There is even an outside tap in the yard, if your dog fancies a little wash after a busy day on the beach . The yard has outdoor furniture and is the perfect location to enjoy a breakfast in the sunshine or drinks at the end of a busy day.
Entering directly into the kitchen, the entire downstairs area has dog friendly ceramic floor tiling. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer and microwave, kettle, toaster. We consider coffee a holiday essential so there is a cafetiere and of course a wide range of other kitchen equipment for self-catering. Furthermore there is a large pine oval table with 4 chairs.
Downstairs is totally open plan and you can enjoy relaxing on the large 4 seater leather sofa in front of the multi fuel stove. You can watch the TV with built in DVD player or you can read in the reading chair with its selection of books. You dogs can relax in the large Farrow and Ball painted wooden dog bed complete with coordinating bedding!
Taking the centrally located staircase you reach……
This large bedroom with countryside views has a king-size bed with duck filled duvet, pillows and crisp cotton bedding. There is a large antique, chestnut chest of drawers and hanging hooks. Also a small and comfortable sofa for you to relax upon. Finally, there is an ensuite bathroom with electric shower, toilet and sink.
A slightly smaller room with views over the private yard. You can enjoy a good night’s sleep in the standard double bed with duck filled duvet, pillows and crisp cotton bedding. Hang your clothes in a 1930’s gentleman’s wardrobe and enjoy the ensuite bathroom with electric shower, toilet and sink.
