The Old Forge
There are lots of original features
in The Old Forge.
It has been converted from the original 18th century
working building with the original two forges still in place (one
is a working raised open fireplace). Almost every room has exposed beams
and there are many areas of original brick and flint in the walls.
It is very comfortably furnished with both modern and period
pieces, with comfy sofas tucked into nooks and crannies and plenty
of books (fiction and non-fiction), pictures, cushions and homely touches.
Sitting/Dining
Room:
Large
open plan area, well furnished with plenty of seating, TV with
Freeview, DVD player, CD hi-fi, raised open fire (with
fireguard), dining table and chairs.
Many books, games,
videos/DVDs.
Kitchen:
Well lit with electric cooker, fridge, freezer, combination microwave, dishwasher,
washer/dryer, table and chairs and ample crockery and cooking
utensils. Digital radio to keep the cook happy!

Wren bedroom:
Twin beds, toe to toe. En-Suite Bathroom with bath, over-bath
shower, washbasin and w.c.

Three single beds.
All bedrooms have
wardrobes, drawers and/or bedside cupboards.

Bath, washbasin and w.c.
Shower room:
Shower, washbasin and w.c.
Heating:
Night storage heaters and electric radiators. Open fire. For
winter lets (November - March) a starter pack of kindling and coal
is provided. Additional bags of coal are available to buy.
Outside:
Just outside the door there is an
enclosed patio and gravel area
with picnic bench seating and a washing line. Beyond that,
there is a gated and fenced gravel/grass area. Outside that
there is a gravel car parking area (room
for up to 4 well parked cars) and a grass area surrounded on
3 sides by a beech hedge. Selection of garden furniture
and barbecue in
shed.
What we provide
All bed linen and towels.
Tea, coffee, sugar and enough milk for first cuppa when you
arrive. Plus a cake or other tea time goodies and eggs
if the hens are laying enough!
Good selection of cooking/serving equipment.
All place
settings, glasses, table linen. Tea towels.
Fresh toilet rolls
in each bathroom and kitchen roll.
Well ordered information on places to visit.
A selection of walking routes/books, recommendations
on places to eat, shop, takeaways etc.

Optional
Internet access via a BT dongle at £15/week if available (The
Old Piggery has first dibs on this!)
Cot and
highchair if required.
Small or large
dog crate if required.
Please note - there is no land line telephone for the Forge.
The
most reliable network for the area is Vodafone.
Guests are asked
not to smoke in the cottage please.
Tesco, Sainsbury
and Asda all deliver to The Old Forge, so if you want to arrange
for a delivery on the day of your arrival, just let us know and we
will put it all away for you. If you would rather have local
food, these people also deliver -

From the A149 at Stalham, take the turning signposted to
Happisburgh, Walcott and Bacton (Stepping Stone Lane). Turn
left at the T junction and travel approx 2 miles. The Old
Forge is on this road towards the bottom of the slight rise
leading up to the big church. There is a small lane (Back
Lane - not signposted) running along the back of the property.
You need to go down this lane to access the parking.
