The Old Piggery Guestbook comments

From the guest book in the Old Piggery. We have had some lovely people staying with some equally lovely dogs. Every single comment has been reproduced here, in its entirety. We are very proud of our guest book and very grateful to all our guests for being so kind.

Well it's the labrador ladies 4th girlie weekend.  We have had a wonderful time - good friends sharing good wine and good food.  Dogs have had a fantastic time, loving the beach.  Apart from Jess getting swept away!  See you next year xxx
Sam, Nikki and Jac with Coal, Finn, Rusti and Sunni (labradors), Brodie and Zanna (Flat coated retrievers), Scotti, (terrier) and Jess (Collie age 16!)  January 2012

The dogs couldn't believe their luck to be staying longer this year! Have seen seals, turnstones, hen harriers and a MARSH HARRIER! (at Horsey)  Great food at Stalham - The Swan - and the Bridge Inn at Acle - lovely open fire.
Sam (with Coal and Finn) who stayed on for the week, joined by Matt and Len and Carol (mum and dad)  January 2012

Thoroughly enjoyed our stayed with Sam and Matt, Coal and Finn.  Great walks and wildlife.
Len and Carol  January 2012

Definitely not long enough, we don't want to go home tomorrow!  We all agree this is the best cottage we have ever stayed in, and over the years we have stayed in different ones all over the country.  'Your Dog' magazine got it right, it is superb for dogs.  Had some lovely walks at Sea Palling, Waxham, Holkham Beach (best ever)  Wells.  Please visit the 'Truly Local' shop in Stalham High Street.  The produce they have is brilliant. We have had a lovely few days in this cottage, Opal has felt truly welcomed and we really hope to come back soon.  Thank you Sue and Dermot.
Ray and Jenny, Rob and Emma and Opal Fruit, our Staffie-Jack cross  January 2012

Home from home.  Perfect.
Kevin Jordan  January 2012

A perfect Piggery.  A perfect holiday.  Thank you.
Sean Thornton  January 2012

Our 2nd visit and just as wonderful as we remembered.  The welcome treats (both for human and doggies) greatly received.  We have loved every minute, from the walks to the return 'home' to the Piggery with 4 very happy girls in front of the fire. Thank you so much for another relaxing enjoyable start to the new year.  Planning a return in 2013.  Can't wait.  All the very best wishes for 2012.  Happy New Year! xxx
Louise, Collin and Perri with Blongie, Tiny, Luna and Poppy.  Dec - Jan 2013

Our third Christmas here - our annual gift to each other. Thanks for the extra touches - always a surprise, like the Advent calendar (suitably stuffed), cherry brandy, sausages.  We've booked again for next year but hope to visit as 'locals' by then!  Every success for your Barn project - peace love and health to you both (plus pooches) for the New Year.
Kate and Max with Ro and Mica and for Christmas, Doug, Jax and children.  December 2012

Had a fab third visit.  Sue and Dermot are like friends and The Old Piggery is like our second home!  Love it here so much we are thinking of moving here.  Going home very relaxed.  We've been to the beach, seen the seals, had nice walks, been to Bacton Woods, eaten lots and sat by the fire....perfect!  See you in 2012. Thank you Sue and Dermot.
Angela and Dave with Riley, Roxy, Vinnie and Skye  December 2011

Had a great week.  Everything wonderful as usual. While here this trip we checked out Hickling and Red Roofs looks a lovely house - we had lunch in the Pleasure Boat in by the water there - very friendly (dogs very welcome) and the Fish Chowder was especially good!  Also lunched at Butchers Arms and Hill House - made us and dogs very welcome and food excellent.  Run each morning to Walcott along to Happisburgh via beach.  Need to check out high tides as we realise just how far it comes in now!  Many thanks.
Jenny, Richard and Donna plus our 3 Samoyeds  December 2011

What a lovely place.  Great to find somewhere that says is dog friendly and really is!  So often places will only take '2 small dogs' and as ours are so much bigger it's hard to find somewhere to go.  Cottage is lovely and so warm.  Peaceful location and great for the dogs early morning and last thing at night walks.

We have all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and really been relaxed.  This was our first visit and we hope not our last - if of course we can find an unbooked week!
Lynne and Toni, Anne and Joe with Oscar the Lab, Elmo the Lurcher and Merlin the Deerhound. November 2011

Victoria, Mikey, Romeo, John, Shell, Craig and Gemma plus 7 dogs  July 2011

"Arrived back from The Old Piggery yesterday having spent a week there with family and five dogs between us. We couldn't believe how lovely the accommodation was, we would have been very impressed even if it wasn't a dog friendly place but given how dog friendy it is we were blown away! Highlight of the week was seeing lots of seals just feet from the shore at Horsey beach...we are sure they were watching us right back! Thanks Dermot and Sue for providing the foundations to a lovely holiday!
Jayne, Andy, Baby Will, Clarice, Keith and 5 doggy family members  July 2011

We've only been with our new family a few weeks and never dreamed that life could be so good - what a holiday!  Our legs are a little tired as Cart Gap has a big beach and we're fairly small.  The rest of the pack enjoyed it too with walks along the Broads they hadn't been on before.  Our humans loved the cottage and apparently we're coming back again next year.  Sue and Dermott (the 'maintenance man') - thanks for providing a superb cottage for the whole family.
Purdey and Louie, Lucy, Cassie and Benji with humans Trevor and Jackie  June 2011

Wonderful cottage, light, spacious and airy.  Cosy and well equipped with welcoming personal touches.  The brownies and eggs were soon eaten.  Weather mixed but who cares with the Piggery to come back to.  The Bridge restaurant at Wroxham served a lovely lunch (outside with the dogs watching the boats go by)  See you again in 2012.

Janet, Dave and doggies (Merlin, Amber and Prince)  June 2011

What a great start - home made brownies, yummy eggs, you can't go wrong.  As we remember, having lived round the corner at Crostwight Hall.  What a fantastic spot this is.  The Piggery is brilliant, light and airy and in a beautiful spot.  The attached barn adds to this.  As others have mentioned you can see why it's always booked up.  Just to let you know we had a great holiday and see you soon.

Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing holiday in perfect surroundings. Your recommendations have always been spot on and the local dog-friendliness has been amazing. Barney settled in very easily and won't want to return home.
Rachel, James and Barney January 2010

We have had an amazing week in a perfect cottage . The weather has been beautiful, not too much snow and the walking is brilliant. We recommend Bacton woods and the Happisburgh coastal walk (if it's not too windy!) The walks from the cottage are great too - especially in the snow. We didn't manage to get to the coast this time but recommend Eccles/Sea Palling and Winterton.

The cottage has everything you could possibly need and the log burner is super. Tiny is worn out and says he needs new paws! Thank you Sue and Dermot for a wonderful week. We will definitely be back - if we can find a vacant week!!! Don't forget to try the fish shop in Happisburgh. Thanks again.
Claire, Alistair and Tiny January 2010 (found a week in 2011!)

A return trip to Norfolk and an ideal spot for a base. We walked through wind, rain, hail, snow and sun (sometimes all in one day) Retail therapy in Norwich, Weavers Way walks and Cromer fireworks. The Piggery had everything we dreamed of. Many thanks.

An absolutely wonderful week, a complete home from home, including the chickens! A great place to relax and refresh before the Christmas rush.
The weather was crisp and sunny, revealing every beautiful part of the countryside. The dogs had a tremendous time as well. As my first time at the Piggery, I can't wait to come back. Many thanks from everyone! Maddy x

Best cottage ever! The attention to detail and the homely welcome has been much appreciated. Superb showers, comfy bed, fabulous home cinema system, a lovely outdoor area to relax plus everything we needed. The problem now is any other cottage we visit will be compared to this and the words "Not as good as The Old Piggery" will be spoken. Thanks Sue and Dermot for everything. We will be back in the future.
