The Old Piggery, East Ruston
Our first time in Norfolk and the Piggery - can't wait to return. The Piggery was everything and more, it exceeded our expectations. Well equipped, spotless, spacious and comfortable. 5 dogs were safe and well provided for. They loved the toys, garden, beaches and walks from the cottage.
Having read all the reviews I didn't think the Piggery could live up to expectations - I was wrong. Amazing place - relaxation is the only option, long walks with the hounds and lovely food at The Star ! We'll be back and I can't wait. Very sad to leave. Thanks.

Sitting area: Comfy leather sofas and leather armchairs with a large flat screen TV/DVD (Freeview) and home theatre including iPod docking and surround sound. The pine cupboard is chock full of DVDs and games and folders with information about places to visit. Wood burning stove in reclaimed brick fireplace with washable fleece mat in front of it for sleepy dogs. There are double French doors opening out into the yard.

Hanging space for coats, plenty of room for dog beds/cages and another double set of doors opening out into a covered area before the yard. Log store and extra fridge just outside these doors.

En-suite bedroom: Comfortable king-size divan bed which can also be two singles (zip and link), antique silk pine wardrobe and substantial bed side drawer units. The modern en-suite shower room has a large walk in shower with rainfall shower head, sink and toilet and storage/mirror unit.
Small bedroom: Trundle bed which can be a single, twin or king-size double. When double we put on a thick topper which makes it really comfortable. No wardrobe but hanging space on an antiqued rack and hook unit. Chair and small chest of drawers.
Heating: Underfloor from ground source heat pump system complemented by wood burning stove. The underfloor heating is sufficient warmth for all but the very coldest weather and is controlled by individual room thermostats which can be adjusted by guests. The wood burning stove is secondary and a free supply of logs is available in the log store is just outside the hallway French doors.
Outside: The yard is fully walled and gated with substantial outdoor furniture and parasol and a charcoal barbecue as well as the log store and additional fridge. A lovely place to spend an evening and watch the sun go down and the aerial shows by the swallows, bats and barn owl. A very safe space for dogs - most of the yard is paved but there is an area of shingle that some dogs might prefer to toilet on and a full length hose that makes the yard easy to wash down. The barn next door is Running Hare Barn, also dog friendly holiday accommodation - due to start taking bookings in 2016 - but every effort has been made to ensure that the two properties have minimal impact on each other.

Or - from the A149 at Stalham, take the turning signposted to Happisburgh, Bacton and Walcott (Stepping Stone Lane). Turn left at the T junction. Continue up this road for approximately 3 miles until you come to a left turn signposted Byway to Fox Hill. (Please do not be tempted to take any of the other turnings into the village, no matter what your sat nav/wife tells you. We have been known to lose guests for days when this happens!) Take this turning and continue down Mill Lane/Road until you reach a sharp bend to the right with a large barn on the right. The Piggery is in the yard of this barn. Parking on the concrete pad behind.
