Wind In The Willows

Sleeps 2

Wind in the Willows is a purpose built Shepherd's Hut to sleep 2 and two small dogs (or one medium sized). It is perfectly located for walking and cycling, near beaches and woods; this quiet corner of North East Norfolk is a real hideaway,
yet only 2 miles from the market town of Stalham and with the Weavers Way footpath running through the village just yards away from the hut. Badger's Retreat is at the same location and can be booked in conjunction with Wind In The Willows with a 10% discount

Glamping at its beautiful best!

On Arrival: Bristow's Farmhouse is on Chequers Street between Stalham and East Ruston centre. Turning off the lane there is off road parking between the paddock where the Hut is located and the farmhouse where the owners, Susan and Craig, live. They are on hand to give advice and direction to walks, cycles, beaches and local sites and to pubs, restaurants and cafes should you want to eat out. (see also our Pubs and Cafes page)

The Hut is built by a local craftsman and has been lovingly decorated by the owners in a bright, contemporary folk style with vintage touches all around. The Hut has a built in double bed with ample storage both inside and out. Up the red steps is a small veranda with room for two to watch the setting sun or you can sit inside on the red loom chairs. Every inch has been thoughtfully put together and every item carefully chosen to be either useful or beautiful and often both. Antique stained glass windows provide privacy at one end, the stable door at the other can be left open to take in the starry skies or the sunny mornings. Should it be cooler there is an electric heater to keep things snug. Inside there is small table, cupboard and concealed sink, and hooks and nooks and crannies to keep everything in its place. The bed (6ft long) is raised on a platform with storage underneath.

The Kitchen: Outside there is a small but well equipped kitchen that has been carefully constructed in a new and beautiful shed. Here you will find sink, fridge, Baby Belling stove and everything you need to make a meal. If you need anything extra just ask Susan or Craig.

Shower Room: Next to this is a shower room with sink, shower and toilet.

Outside: The paddock is set in open countryside, adjacent to working farms and nearby there are kennels and views across the fields to the Weavers Way for safe, easy walking. There is an enclosed grass area, vegetables and flower gardens, some delightful planting schemes and a small, shallow pond. There is seating outside and a table and chairs for meals alfresco.

There are plenty of local shops in Stalham, a very good farm shop nearby at Wayford Bridge and many little local stall and shops selling local produce, including Truly Local in Stalham, run as a not for profit shop selling items from within a 35 mile radius. They would be pleased to put together a box of groceries for your arrival.
