Cornerways, Eccles on Sea

Sleeps 4 + sofabed for 2

“Love the quirky designs, a great space, and having such safe all round enclosed areas
and gardens meant the dogs were  totally safe”

Quirky seaside cabin, done with charm and fun detail, all on one level with a fully enclosed outside area for unlimited dogs.  Garden bar too!

The cabin is on a quiet and old fashioned little seaside hamlet of Eccles on Sea, reached down unmade roads and as far from the hustle and bustle of daily life as you can get!  There is a lot packed into this charming little cabin.

You can easily walk from here to Cart Gap and the lovely dog friendly café Smallsticks.  A mile walk on the lovely sandy beach, or on the quite track behind the dunes, will take you to Sea Palling with its great beach, dog friendly pub and café, shop and chippy.  An inland walk will take you easily to the Lessingham Star (our favourite dog friendly pub) along some quiet tracks and lanes.

A drive up or down the coast from here will give you access to so many other lovely beaches – all dog friendly.  Watch the seals at Horsey, enjoy the miles of dunes at Winterton, head up to Cromer for a seaside day out or further up the coast to some of the amazing North Norfolk beaches and marshlands.  Take a boat out on the Norfolk Broads – miles of beautiful waterways to explore.  If you have children with you then try a visit to Bewilderwood, Wroxham Barns and Great Yarmouth for plenty of things to do with them.

When you arrive…
You can park up to 4 cars off road on the gravelled parking.  Go in through the tall gate on the left and that will take you onto the decking that surrounds the cabin. The front door is just along here on the right and leads into the hallway and then into the ….

Open plan living/dining/kitchen area:  From the funky, patchwork chair at one end to the lovely big sofa at the other end, this area is just full of interesting bits of furniture and features! Shabby chic drawers, industrial pieces, painted furniture – a really unique style.

Right in the middle is the wooden table to seat 6 and sitting here means you can look out through the two double French doors that open onto the decking. The lovely big sofa has a unique sea sky painting right behind it and is right next to one of the French doors so you can sit in the sunlight. When this sofa is used as a bed, there is a lovely floaty curtain to section off this area from the rest of the living area.

There is a tv of course, wall mounted.  The feature wood burner (not for guest use currently) will be replaced by an alternative heating source but there are electric radiators in each room so you won’t be cold.

The kitchen area:  Simple, open plan and has a bar with two stools so you can sit and chat to the cook or do those peeling and chopping jobs!  There is an electric cooker, washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster and a great selection of crockery and cutlery. Enough for 6.

Off this main area at the kitchen end is the …

Bathroom: White, freestanding, roll top bath, ceramic sink and toilet, and electric radiators. All newly installed.

At the other end of this main living area are…..

King size bedroom: Lovely white metal framed bed with chest of drawers and bedside tables with electric radiators.

Twin bedroom: Two lovely single beds with bedside tables and room for a cot if needed (we can provide this) also with electric radiators.

Shower room: Modern fitted and fully tiled shower room with toilet and sink.

Outside: This cabin is a perfect place to live outdoors as much as indoors! The two French double doors lead out onto the decking. There is a table and two chairs where you can sit and watch the sun go down across the fields with a sundowner or enjoy a breakfast for two.  The decking looks over the lovely little planted up pond, all fully fenced off. You can look down and watch the insects flying about on it.  It is accessible but it is gated and bolted so children and dogs will find it much harder!

Down the steps at one end there is a grass area with bench table and seats. At the other end there is a fabulous little summer house under a tree; this has a bar in it and a lovely funky sofa as well as more seating outside. All of this area is fully securely fenced with 4ft+ fencing all around but still with an amazing view of the sunsets.

Please note:
The owner lives in the mobile home next door and is there to help if needed but equally happy if you want to be left alone to enjoy your holiday.
Unlimited dogs are welcome.
The sandy Eccles beach is a very short walk over an easy access ramp.
Smallsticks Cafe at Cart Gap is an easy walk along the beach or road – dog friendly.
Sea Palling is about 1 mile along the beach and has a dog friendly pub, cafe, chippy and shop

“Lovely gift basket, thank you. What a great place to get away from it all and being on the beach was the perfect getaway with the dogs. Love the quirky designs, a great space and having such safe all round enclosed area and garden meant the dogs were totally safe. Having two bathrooms with a shower and a bath was a great luxury. We highly recommend (especially for the amazing starlings and sparrows!) We will definitely be coming back again”  Parker and Thea the dogs 🙂

Location & Directions

How To Find Us:

Cornerways, Bush Drive, Bush Estate, Eccles on Sea, NR12 0SF

Whichever way you come the road is a bit bumpy! Go into the nearby village of Lessingham. From here take the turning down Heath Road (you will go past Thatch Cottage, one of our other properties) and follow it until you come to the first turning on the left called Church Lane (you can see the church along the lane if you are unsure).

Go down this single track lane . There are several passing spaces so don’t panic if you see another car coming. When you reach the houses at the end of this road, go straight on (slight dog leg). Go down here for a short way (you will be able to see a beach ramp ahead of you) then follow the road round to the left and then take the first right at the cross roads onto Crowden Road and follow this road as it turns left into Bush Drive. Keep going down here until you get to the next beach ramp on the right by a field. Cornerways is opposite this (right on the corner, funnily enough!)

Please note that there is a 10mph advisory limit along here (and the bumpy road helps everyone keep to that!) which the residents do appreciate everyone sticking to.

“Our first time at Hidden Gem but not East Ruston Cottages.   The cottage is absolutely wonderful and has a very homely feel.  We have had a really relaxing holiday in a stunning location and Hidden Gem is like a home from home.  The beach and dunes are beautiful and the garden has been perfect for our two hounds!  A very dog friendly holiday cottage. All the extra little touches and the welcome gifts have been much appreciated!  We will definitely be back!! "

The cottage is amazing, you have thought of everything (even supplied fantastic weather!). The decoration is lovely, beds so comfortable. It was so nice to be able to bring the dogs so they could have a holiday with us and experience the beach for the first time."
