Misty Meadow, Hickling

Sleeps 12

Fabulous family-friendly house with Hot Tub, welcoming unlimited dogs!

“Had a wonderful time in this lovely home, comfortable beds and Teddy loved the huge garden. Thank you for letting us stay x”

In the quiet Broads village of Hickling and a very short drive from the coast. Two different places to get your paws wet!  And get wet on the inside afterwards in the 2 village pubs – both within walking distance.  See The Greyhound and The Pleasure Boat Inn (right on the water) – both welcome dogs.

PLEASE NOTE: Misty Meadow has six bedrooms (sleeping 12) but current Govt regulations mean we can only take bookings for 6 (or more IF from the same household/bubble) so only 3 of them will be available for each booking.  The prices have been adjusted to reflect this.  Two of the bedrooms are downstairs.   All of the bedrooms have beds that can be made up as double or twins. Lots of flexibility, lots of space!  This gorgeous house is big enough for all your dogs and your family and is very happy to welcome unlimited dogs for free. There are plenty of quiet walks, dog friendly, sandy, quiet beaches nearby, the Norfolk Broads for boat hire, fishing, bird watching and walking. The garden is HUGE, grass and very secure too, not overlooked and nothing can be seen by dogs outside the boundary so perfect for reactive and energetic dogs.

When you arrive…

There is plenty of parking in the gravel drive for up to 6 cars. Head to the front door which leads to the spacious hallway – lots of room for shoes, boots, and has lots of coat hooks for coats in the coat cupboard.

The first door on your left-hand side is:

Downstairs Bedroom 1: A super-king zip and link bed in this room (and so can be double or twin beds), plenty of wardrobe space, bedside cabinets, chest of drawers with a mirror and views into the front garden. Back into the hallway and take the next right to the…

Kitchen: Very well-proportioned kitchen with a table for 6, lots of storage for all the food you will need for the week (most supermarkets deliver here), 5 ft high fridge, dishwasher, microwave, a slow cooker and an induction range oven, which includes 5 induction rings, three ovens and a grill. Plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses! Carry on through the kitchen into the utility room where there is a butler sink, 5 ft high freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dog towels, ironing board, steam iron and mop and bucket.

Return to the hallway and take your next right to:

Downstairs Bedroom 2: Another zip and link bed (can be a king-size or twin beds), a gentleman’s wardrobe, bedside units and lovely views into the garden. Across the hallway is the:

Downstairs Toilet: Plain and simple and very handy for the two downstairs bedrooms.

Living Room: A lovely big room that stretches across the whole width of the house. Cosy up in front of the wood-burner and enjoy the flat-screen TV on the comfortable seating for up to 12.  The tiled floor means it’s easy to keep clean and the large rug adds cosiness.  You can see three different views from this room into the front, rear and side garden. Full of light in the summer, cosy in the winter. Turn right into the…..

Conservatory: Great views of the huge garden from the dining table (seats 12). In the sideboard, there is a wide selection of board games – get them out and start a competition!  Here’s where we keep the selection of dog beds in this room. Head back through the living room, up the stairs and up to the remaining bedrooms…

Upstairs Bedroom 3: A big room with a comfy zip and link bed (can be made into a super-king double or twin beds) plus a built-in wardrobe, dressing table with mirror and bedside units. Views from the window are to the front of the property.

Upstairs Bedroom 4: Another large bedroom with another super-king zip and link bed set up as a twin (can be double) with a built-in wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside units with garden views.

Upstairs Bedroom 5: Generous sized bedroom with another super-king zip and link bed (can be double or twin beds) with a large built-in wardrobe, a dressing table and bedside units. A rear-facing window providing magnificent views into the garden.

Upstairs Bedroom 6: Sizeable bedroom with another super-king zip and link bed (can be double or twin beds) with a large built-in wardrobe, a dressing table and bedside units with a front-facing window looking onto the front garden.

Upstairs Bathroom: A large family bathroom equipped with a bath and 2 additional showers over the bath (one is a mixer and the other an electric).

Upstairs Shower Room: In here there is a large shower and Mira mixer and toilet.

Outside:  You can get into the garden in several places – through the rear utility room door, through the conservatory double doors or through the lounge double doors.  It is a huge space – about half an acre, outside seating, laid mostly to lawn, with trees and shrubs and surrounded by 5.5 – 6 feet high solid fencing, so is very secure for pooch-safe play. There is also a drum style BBQ for charcoal for guest use and a sundance Hot Tub!

Testimonials:

Warm and friendly welcome and ideal for dogs, not many places would take all 12 of ours! Some lovely touches like dog tags, treats and a lovely big garden, what more could we have asked for?! We will definitely be back. Lovely area to stay with some lovely walks. ….. a wonderful birthday getaway!

Had a fantastic time! Everyone loved the garden, kids, dogs + adults alike. Also appreciated the little touches (welcome pack), Tom enjoyed the library. Beds very comfortable, house in good location and plenty of things to do. Would definitely consider a return visit. Thank you.

Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house, we all had a fab time. Kids and dogs loved the big garden. Thank you for being so very helpful. The house was lovely and clean and had everything we needed – no one wanted to go home. Thanks again for everything you have done.

So glad we finally found somewhere that would accept our ‘large’ dog! Lovely house, beautiful location and kept both child and dog entertained! only recommendation would be blackout blinds. will be back x

Lovely house for all of us. Garden perfect & dog proof for our 3 lurchers & Arthur (2.5 y.o) to race around in. Agree with previous comments that an outside light would be useful. The park in Hickling was much enjoyed by Arthur, so close. Thank you for a definitely dog-friendly place.

“Our first time at Hidden Gem but not East Ruston Cottages.   The cottage is absolutely wonderful and has a very homely feel.  We have had a really relaxing holiday in a stunning location and Hidden Gem is like a home from home.  The beach and dunes are beautiful and the garden has been perfect for our two hounds!  A very dog friendly holiday cottage. All the extra little touches and the welcome gifts have been much appreciated!  We will definitely be back!! "
