Patikipa, Potter Heigham | Dog friendly holiday cottages - Norfolk

Patikipa, Potter Heigham

Sleeps 2

Fancy a bolthole, a riverside retreat? Where you can wander to the waters edge in bare feet with your first cup of the day to watch mother duck and her ducklings, an early sailor, a heron flying over the marshes, fish jumping or just watch the reed waving gently in the breeze on the other side of the river.  From Patikipass verandah  you have  uninterrupted views across the marshes and the ever changing river scene.

Patikipa is a traditional riverside cabin on the North Bank of the River Thurne at Potter Heigham on the Norfolk Broads. The cabin sleeps two with an airbed and linen available on request at no extra charge.  From the cabin you can walk inland along miles of marshland footpaths and you can hire a boat for the week from the owner and  moor it in front of the cabin and use it to explore the Broads.  Hickling Broad, Horsey and Ludham are a short cruise away. The cabin is traditionally let out for the fishing season but the owner loves her peaceful little cabin and would love to see it enjoyed by dogs and their owners, so we have taken it on. Potter Heigham village has a pub, shops and cafes the challenge is not to get in your car from arrival to departure day!

When you get here: Access to the cabin is along a short, easy footpath but there is no road access. If you have a lot of luggage and have hired Misty you will be met on arrival with Misty and be taken with your luggage to Patikipa.

Outside: The property is surrounded on 3 sides by a high, solid fence which tails down as it gets to the waters’ edge where there is no fence to the 42ft long open river frontage. There is a simple grass area with seating in front to enjoy the views across the river to the open marshes.

Entrance from the front door into the…

Living/Dining Room: Comfortable seating for three throws provided and a flatscreen tv with Freeview.

Off this is the….

Kitchen: Fully fitted with cooker, dishwasher and microwave plus a washing machine.  There is a table and chairs for dining.

Shower Room: Toilet, wash basin and  walk in shower . Heated towel rail.

Bedroom: To the left of the living room, double bed, cupboards and drawer space. Views through the window onto the river.

Please Note
Given the waterside location the property may not be for the fainthearted during the winter months!
No smoking please in Patikipa.

Why not hire Misty the Day Boat and get the most from your Broadland Holiday. You will be met on arrival and with your  luggage will be taken  to Patikipa. The boat is Broads Authority approved, properly certificated, fully insured and life jackets will be provided.
The boat can be hired for use during your stay from £200 for the week and takes up to  up to 7 people.

Some comments from our guestbook

Neil, Maxine and Indie had a peaceful weekend. Very cosy cottage. Indie enjoyed the enclosed garden area by the water's edge. We all enjoyed watching the wildlife to-ing and fro-ing. The walks along the river bank were fab. Would definitely recommend to friends, especially the bird watchers.

We hired a boat and we have had the most wonderful weekend in this beautiful cottage and thank you so much for keeping it nice and toasty. It couldnt have been better. Thank you for everything.

A lovely, peaceful, relaxing week. Weather good, fishing good, a really great little cottage

We have had a short but wonderful stay here. The weather has been glorious so we have been outside most of the time - much to the delight of Rufus the 8 month old cocker spaniel. With best wishes

What a great week we have had. The weather has not always been kind to us but my husband has really enjoyed the fishing. I have found a very relaxing week surrounded by lots of home comforts. We hired a small boat for the week so have enjoyed visiting plaecs both up and down the river. This is the first time we have had a holiday like this and we loved it. A huge thank you for a fantastic time.

“Our first time at Hidden Gem but not East Ruston Cottages.   The cottage is absolutely wonderful and has a very homely feel.  We have had a really relaxing holiday in a stunning location and Hidden Gem is like a home from home.  The beach and dunes are beautiful and the garden has been perfect for our two hounds!  A very dog friendly holiday cottage. All the extra little touches and the welcome gifts have been much appreciated!  We will definitely be back!! "
