Immaculate Seaside Escape

Escape to our charming dog-friendly cottage in Eccles-on-Sea, nestled in a peaceful, old-fashioned seaside hamlet. Located on a quiet, unmade road, it’s the perfect retreat for anyone looking to unwind away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The area boasts incredibly dark skies, making stargazing a magical experience.

Our cottage comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests across 3 bedrooms, and we happily welcome up to 4 dogs for free—so your furry friends can enjoy the holiday too.

From the doorstep, you can take a leisurely stroll to Cart Gap and enjoy a treat at the wonderfully dog-friendly Smallsticks Cafe. A scenic mile-long walk along the sandy beach—or the peaceful trail behind the dunes—leads to Sea Palling, where you’ll find a stunning beach, a dog-friendly pub, shops, a traditional fish and chip shop, and plenty of cafés. Don’t miss our favourite local spot, Beach Rock Bistro.

Wildlife lovers will delight in spotting seals swimming nearby, and the area is perfect for beach walks, swimming, paddleboarding, and kayaking with your four-legged companions.

Hello we’re Robert and Neil and welcome to Sea Urchin!
We bought Sea Urchin in 2023 and set about completely renovating it as unfortunately it had sat empty and abandoned for almost two decades. We love Sea Urchin and we bought it for us and our family to enjoy and make lots of happy memories, mum and dad can be found staying there regularly. We decided we would like to share Sea Urchin with many more people and their families so they too could make lots of happy holiday memories, many have and many have returned which makes us really happy. We absolutely love reading our guest book to see what fun and adventures our guests have had whilst staying at Sea Urchin and we also love reading our reviews.
We are so glad we found ERC as they really do fit in with our ethos of a personal, hands on, caring approach to our guests.
We both love dogs, and would love one of our own . Neil’s had several in the past but we have a very elderly cat and it wouldn’t be fair on her.
Neil loves the sea and body boarding. Robert loves cooking and a good book. We both have a love of classic cars.

All about the outside:

Front garden
The front of the property is fully enclosed. There is parking for two vehicles on the driveway area. The south facing sunny veranda has a seating area with furniture. You can sit and listen to the sound of sea as it’s just over the back fence! There is access to the beach path via the side gate in the garden.

The beach path runs along side the property so you can be on the beach in minutes.

Will this property suit my dogs?

If your dogs love the beach then this is certainly the place for them!  The easy access beach is moments from the property and is usually very quiet as there is no public parking in Eccles and out of the main holiday season only about 50% of the properties are occupied.

Please note:

  • Check in is from 4pm, check out by 10am.
  • Sea Urchin is a non-smoking property.
  • EV and electric bike charging is NOT allowed.
  • All major supermarkets deliver here, please make sure you are here to accept deliveries.

Accessibility

Parking is right outside and the accommodation is all on one level. There are a couple of steps to get into the property but otherwise it is all easy to get around.  Access to the beach is along a short, unmade track and then up a short concrete ramp.  This is not suitable for wheelchairs as it is gated and whilst you can get round the side on foot easily enough, it wouldn’t be enough room for a wheelchair.  The property does not cater specifically for mobility, audibly or visually impaired guests but please do contact us if you would like to know more – hello@eastrustoncottages.co.uk.
