St Benets is a proper seaside family house! A very short walk from the sandy Blue Flag beach at Sea Palling, a small seaside resort with a dog friendly pub, village shop, fish and chips, dog friendly cafe and one small amusement arcade. The beach is protected by rock reefs which form calmer areas of water along the main part of the beach and are ideal for swimming and paddling. It is perfect for dog walking and whilst there are restrictions in place from May to September it is only to the left of the access ramp; to the right you can walk the dogs for miles on the beach and in the dunes and stop off at nearby Waxham Barns for a coffee or further on to the Nelson’s Head at Horsey for a drink. Seals are a common, but nonetheless amazing, sight along this stretch of coast.
The house has a contemporary and elegant feel but also manages to be homely and comfortable with many of the original Victorian features retained. It can sleep up to 12 in 5 bedrooms, although an ideal number would probably be between 6 and 10. There are 2 bathrooms, one of which is nearly big enough to party in! All bedrooms are very comfortable and spacious with good quality mattresses and beds, pine furniture and many of them have flat screen televisions and some have DVD players too! The house is centrally heated with plenty of radiators throughout and double glazed, making it very cosy even in winter.
When you get here: St Benets is at the beach end of Beach Road, the first of a pair of 3 storey, semi detached houses on the left opposite the Old Chapel. There is a paved and gated area for parking directly outside the house for up to 3 cars. Car parking is also allowed on the double yellow lines outside the house between 1 October and 30 April. Outside this time restrictions apply – parking is provided further along in Clink Road. 24 hour tickets can be purchased from the machines at £7/day and these are transferable to other North Norfolk District Council car parks for their duration.
The front door opens into the wood floored hall, to the right is the…
Living Room: Plenty of space, 3 comfortable sofas with a large coffee table in the centre, large flat screen tv with dvd player and – a selection of DVDs is provided – and a Nintendo Wii. The floor is wood with rugs and the beautiful Victorian tiled fireplace is fully working and a small amount of coal/kindling is supplied for the cooler weather. The owners have bought several photos of the area from Stephen Mole Photography and hung them on the walls of this room for their guests to enjoy.
Opposite this is the…
Dining Room: Another spacious and airy room, wooden floors throughout, sturdy wooden table and chairs to seat 6 – 8. Victorian fire place feature and pine sideboard and book shelves with plenty of holiday reading material. Retro Bush radio and some lovely prints and photos on the walls.
Half glazed door leads through to the …
Kitchen: Very open and light, solid wood table to seat 8, large pine dresser, stylish wood units and all appliances – dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, free standing tall fridge/freezer plus under the counter fridge, double electric oven with hob, microwave with grill and 4 slice toaster. There is a good selection of cooking and serving equipment and if you do find yourself in there slaving over the family dinner there is a flat screen TV, DVD player, radio and bluetooth speaker! The half glazed door leads directly out onto the patio and into the secure and fully enclosed garden so dogs can come and go safely.
Back into the wooden floored hallway (past plenty of under stair space) and up the carpeted stairs (which are steep but have hand rails on both sides) to the landing and …
Bedroom 1: Huge room with king size double divan bed, another Victorian style fireplace feature, wardrobes, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets, dressing table and bedside lights. Plenty of space in this room with a view out over the old chapel and towards the open countryside and the dunes.
Bedroom 2: Decorative metal framed double bed, Victorian style fireplace feature, pine wardrobe, chest of drawers and blanket box, bedside cabinets with reading lights and a wall mounted flat screen TV.
Further down the hall is …..
Bedroom 3: Twin, large single divan beds, Victorian style fireplace feature, chest of drawers and wall mounted flat screen TV.
At the end of the hall is….
Bathroom 1: Bath with hand held shower, toilet and sink with a bathroom cabinet above. The room is fully tiled with a fun marine theme and decorative tile panels.
Up the next set of stairs to…..
Bedroom 4: Another large room with twin double beds, pine furniture including dressing table, chest of drawers and wall mounted flat screen TV and DVD player. A great room for a group of children to enjoy.
Bedroom 5: Twin large singles with bedside cabinets and pine furniture, wall mounted flat screen TV and DVD player.
Bathroom: Possibly the biggest bathroom in Sea Palling! Bath with handheld shower plus separate large shower cubicle with sliding doors, sink, toilet, pine baby changing unit and wall mounted cupboard, laundry basket, heated towel rail and bags of space. All decorated with a marine theme.
Outside: The back garden can be accessed through a gate from the drive and from the kitchen back door. There is a small patio with garden furniture, the rest laid to grass with a high (7ft) wooden fence on two sides and a hedge and mesh link fence along the other side making it totally secure for dogs and children. The gate is wrought iron with a smaller mesh panel at the bottom to stop even the smallest dogs squeezing through. There are a couple of sheds containing a charcoal barbecue and plenty of items that can taken to the beach.
No smoking please in the house.
Arrival time 4pm, departure time 10am
Plenty of parking is provided further along in Clink Road. 24 hour tickets can be purchased from the machines at £7/day – see here or in advance of your holiday for £28/week. See here. Not all of them by any means...this house has been giving people fabulous holidays since 2013
Lovely, clean, comfortable and well equipped house and soooo warm! We loved Sea Palling and surrounding areas. Dogs loved it all. Check out the seals at Horsey. Recommend Kingfisher fish and chips on the Walcott sea front. Hope to return soon, thank you.

Juliet and Ed...we love your holiday home! Bella has found heaven (don’t think she’d ever seen the beach before – LOVED it!) We’ve walked loads and relaxed loads too. Definitely coming again. Wonderful house and location.

Great time. All enjoyed the 2000 seals and pups (during the birthing season) at Horsey Gap. Lovely beach and for after dark – the amusement arcade!
Summers family members from far and wide
Our second visit to ST. Benets did not disappoint. The dogs are going home exhausted from miles of beaches walks. We also hired a day boat, had lunch at the Pleasure Boat Inn and ‘sailed’ back. We also had a sea fishing trip and visited many tea rooms and definitely ate far too much cake! Highly recommend the Nelsons Head Pub and also Poppylands cafe. We have had a wonderful 2 weeks and hope to return to this beautiful house.
Marie and Chris Sutton

We loved walking by the seals - made the holiday!

Another great relaxing week here. Visited The Star at Lessingham again for 2 fab meals! Dogs had a great time on the beaches, the only drawback was our friends Jane and Simon and their 5 dogs should have been here as well but due to one of their dogs being very poorly, they couldn't come – let’s hope we can do this again next year. Thanks for everything.

We enjoyed a fantastic stay with our two teenagers and 2 dogs at St Benets. The house is very spacious and extremely dog friendly! It had everything we could possibly need, and an added bonus was the array of homemade goodies and fresh treats that were left for us (and the dogs!) on our arrival. The beach couldn’t be closer and again is very dog friendly. We would highly recommend a stay at St Benets if you are looking for a truly dog friendly property that is only yards from a beautiful beach. We will definitely be back! Thank you again
A fantastic holiday home, everything you could need. We walked on the beach and chilled out. Ate at the Reefs Bar – very good. We even saw a baby seal – perfect! Thanks so much.

Cathy, Eve, Faye, Geoff, Ben, Alf and Sylvia
St Benets feels like home: the kitchen is well equipped for preparing any meal in any quantity. Tastefully furnished in keeping with the style, the beds in particular are supremely comfortable. Despite the provision for dogs, the house and its large rooms are clean and fresh. Sea Palling has one of the best beaches in East Norfolk, ideal for children and also for walkers who can divert at several points to other routes, notably that leading to Waxham Barn and the best freshly baked scones I have ever tasted. Back in the village, the shop and Post Office are well stocked and the service is friendly. The fudge stall just around the corner is addictive. St Benets is the ideal place to hang out, chill out and crash out.
Amazing Accommodation, Wonderful Weather, Charming Company, Excellent Entertainment, Fabulous Food!! Tremendous Trips, Happy Holiday!!!

We have just come had a wonderful week in St Benets. The house has character and is really super: spacious, well equipped and clean. We were 5 adults, 2 children and 3 dogs and the 5 bedrooms on 2 floors gave everyone space and you didn't feel disturbed at all. The beach, only 150 metres away, is fabulous and we could walk for miles with the dogs who really loved it. It was great to see the seals - their heads popped up from the water and it was like they were watching us in the same way we were watching them :-) We would also like to thank Sue for the fantastic friendly service, it's a much nicer experience than booking with any other holiday letting organisation. We ordered food on the internet and it was all unpacked and put away in cupboards, fridge and freezer when we arrived. We will definitely come back next year. We will book as soon as we have the dates for the school holidays. Thank you.

St Benets is an ideal holiday location - close to the beach and lots of interesting places to visit if you wish to leave Sea Palling! We had a lovely fire in the lounge on a cold day and didn't want to leave!
What a wonderful week in such a wonderful house. St Benets in Sea Palling, there's no place that I'd rather be. It took 30 seconds to walk to the beach. We went for a walk along the beach every day. It is such a well presented house with loads of character I didn't want to leave!
