Wag-tail Cottage, Ingham Corner

Sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms

Relaxing, dog friendly and full of character

“Beautiful cottage! Treated ourselves to days of beach walks and relaxing evenings in front of the fire!”

Tucked out of the way in the peaceful Norfolk village of Ingham Corner. Within a very short drive you have a great choice of dog friendly beaches, the closest being Cart Gap and Sea Palling. Great walks from the door and great food nearby too.

When you arrive: There is parking for two cars just beside the cottage on the block paved driveway. Through the side door and into the …

Lobby: Walking through from the front door a spacious hard floored lobby and just off this is the …

Bathroom: Modern family bathroom with a full-size bath, electric shower over bath with a grab rail to assist the less abled, toilet hand basin and heated towel rail. Leave the bathroom and opposite this, you’re in the…

There is a built in oven and hob, huge fridge freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, easy clean surfaces, microwave, toaster and lovely wooden floors with some great original brick detail. From here you go through to the …

Living/Dining Room:  Easy access to here from the kitchen – there is a dining table to seat 6 and seating in front of the woodburner. Sony Smart TV with numerous apps available, and of course and some lovely features and details including the lovely stable door that leads to the …

Fully enclosed garden. A beautiful enclosed open space, with mature green trees behind a seating area, wood store and gate out to the side.  A new shed is available to use for storing bikes etc. The local birds love this garden and you can watch them from the living room sofa or the king size bed!

Upstairs: The stairs to the bedrooms are from the kitchen, fairly steep (typical for the age of the cottage) but easy to negotiate and carpeted and leading to:

Double bedroom: Just off the landing and overlooking the rear garden. Oak framed double bed and storage/hanging space. Exposed beams add charm to this room together with a decorative fireplace.

Twin bedroom:
Also just off the landing, twin oak framed beds with side tables and storage/hanging space. Again the room is full of exposed beams.

Outside: The garden is highly secure with 5ft + solid fences on the left hand side (as you look out of the kitchen door) and along the back, with the right hand boundary equally secure.  There is a gate to the side of the cottage – again this is solid and 6ft+ high.

Please note
Wag-tail Cottage is strictly a non-smoking property and barbecues and other naked flames are not permitted. This is an important insurance requirement.

The local beaches

The beach at Sea Palling is one of a small handful of Norfolk beaches to repeatedly get Blue Flag status, showing just how clean and safe it is! There is a fun little dog friendly bar here and a dog friendly cafe (open 364 days of the year and famous for its doughnuts and ice cream sundaes!) Fish and chip shop, shop/post office and a fresh fish stall too – Sea Palling has it all!   Nearby Cart Gap has a great café, Smallsticks – one of our favourites!  It’s a very short walk from the beach – with great food on the menu and dogs very welcome in the enclosed yard area – perfect for a coffee and cake after a run on the beach!

The Norfolk Broads

The nearby town of Stalham means that you can easily get supplies for your stay and from here there is access to the wonderful Norfolk broads. Boat hire is available at nearby Stalham Staithe and Wayford Bridge.  Dogs are welcome on boats! It really is the best way to see the Broads. Beautiful Hickling Broad is a short drive away and there is boat hire here too (plus 2 dog friendly pubs!)  Nearby Potter Heigham is one of the Broads Centres – plenty of cruising opportunities and riverside dog friendly pubs to stop at too!

Local walks… and to the pub!

The cottage is at the start of an easy network of footpaths where you can wander alongside the arable fields with your dogs and if you are in need of refreshments, the local pub, The Lessingham Star, is only 20 minutes’ walk away…..but maybe 25 minutes back depending on how good a time you have had!! Dogs are very welcome here and the food is great! The beer is well looked after, the welcome is warm and the pub is understandably one of the most popular locals in the area. If you want fine dining or to book for a special occasion, The Ingham Swan, is just down the road. Well worth a visit!
There are many walks you can do right from the door, all on quiet, livestock free land. If you want a full day walk you can easily walk to and along the coast as part of a circular walk. You are spoilt for choice here!

Testimonials:

We enjoyed a fantastic week at Wag-Tail cottage. It is a real home away from home, well equipped and very comfortable. Love the dog-themed accessories! The cottage is in an excellent base to explore the lovely beaches, would highly recommend Walcott beach and the Kingfisher Cafe as well as Smallsticks Cafe at Cart Gap – they do a fabulous breakfast!

How To Find Us:

The Loke, Ingham Corner, Ingham NR12 0TF

From A149 at Stalham take the turning onto Old Market Road, signposted towards Ingham, Lessingham and Sea Palling. Stay on this road out of Stalham town and when you get to the S bend (opposite the Ingham Swan) take the first bend round to the left and then go straight on, rather than continue round to the right. Approx 1 mile down this road, you will come into a small hamlet of houses. At the T-junction, turn left immediately down the small track on the left and Wag-tail Cottage is 2nd on the left.

“Our first time at Hidden Gem but not East Ruston Cottages.   The cottage is absolutely wonderful and has a very homely feel.  We have had a really relaxing holiday in a stunning location and Hidden Gem is like a home from home.  The beach and dunes are beautiful and the garden has been perfect for our two hounds!  A very dog friendly holiday cottage. All the extra little touches and the welcome gifts have been much appreciated!  We will definitely be back!! "
